Lege med spesialisering i anestesiologi og erfaring som luftambulanselege siden 2002. Ph.d. innen tema pasientsikkerhet og risikostyring fra 2010 med tittel "Risk management in critical care medicine as a tool to improve patient safety". 
Driver hovedsaklig forskning innen prehospital pasientsikkerhet med fokus på kompetanse og sikkerhet i utførelse av avanserte ferdigheter som avansert luftveishåndtering. Har bidratt til å etablere master i prehospital critical care ved UiS og bachelor i paramedisin. Nå fagansvarlig for bachelor paramedisin og UiS sin representant i RETHOS utvalget for paramedisin.
Siden 2019 professor i prehospital akuttmedisin og pasientsikkerhet.
