On this website, you'll find an overview of various types of agreements and networks the University of Stavanger has with other educational institutions. Tuition fees
All students going on exchange must pay the semester fee at UiS and may be asked to pay an administration fee at the host institution.
Students going on exchange through Erasmus+ do not pay tuition fees to the host institution. Please note that institutions outside Europe usually require tuition fees, especially in USA and Australia. If you are eligible for financial support from the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund (LĂ„nekassen), you may apply for additional support for tuition fees.
International students paying tuition fees at UiS must still pay this fee during the exchange period and are not exempt from any tuition fees at the host institution.
UiS has entered into several exchange agreements with various institutions within the EU. These agreements are administered through the Erasmus+ program and are usually associated with specific departments or study programs. You may receive a grant and will be exempted from tuition fees at the host institution. Please note that there is often a limited number of exchange spaces available.
You can see which agreements within the EU are relevant to you by searching for your study program in the map on the outbound exchange landing page.
UiS has agreements with institutions on most continents, often established at the institutional level. These agreements apply to the entire university and may be relevant to students in various study programs.
Most agreements are open to all study programs, provided you find relevant courses that can be pre-approved. Some agreements have restrictions, such as being tied to a faculty, field of study, or academic level.
Please note that exchanges outside the EU usually involve tuition fees at the host institution and expenses related to visa applications. UiS has a very limited number of tuition-free spaces at some institutions, where students are exempt from tuition fees.

Exchange as a Freemover student
If you don't find a suitable institution among UiS's agreements, you may consider going on exchange as a Freemover student. This requires taking responsibility for the entire process, without support from the International Office.
