Why did you choose the Biological Chemistry programme at UiS and how well did the program meet your expectations?

As a recent graduate of a forensic biology bachelor's program in Wales, I was eager to continue my education in a way that would allow me to further develop my expertise in the field. That's why I decided to enroll in the master's program at Stavanger. The course exceeded all of my expectations, offering a fantastic combination of both practical, lab-based learning and engaging theoretical classes. I was impressed with the quality of education I received and how the program allowed me to take my knowledge to the next level.

What did you appreciate most about your study time at UiS?

Throughout my time in the program, I was fortunate to be surrounded by an incredibly supportive faculty and staff. The coursework was challenging, yet highly engaging, allowing me to delve deeper into cutting-edge research, new techniques, and innovative approaches in the field.

What's more, the program offered me the opportunity to collaborate with other talented individuals, including a fantastic project leader who challenged me to work independently and develop new skills that would prove invaluable in my future career.

Beyond the academic benefits, I was also able to make lasting connections with other students in the program. These friendships have continued to this day, and I am grateful for the network of peers and colleagues that I have been able to build through this experience.

Which part of the study will you benefit most from in working life?

Through my study program, I learned that the benefits go far beyond simply obtaining a degree. The journey from day one to graduation taught me valuable life skills, such as the ability to collaborate effectively with others while also working independently.

Moreover, the program provided me with the opportunity to work on tasks that required a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, which has proven invaluable in my current work as a tech professional. Building solutions for projects requires a similar approach to the recipe-based activities that I performed during my cancer research thesis. Any small error can render the entire test inaccurate and require a repeat. As a result, I developed strong problem-solving, leadership, and task management skills, all of which have helped me succeed in my career. I am grateful for the valuable lessons I learned through this program and am excited to continue applying them in new and innovative ways.

Do you think your background in Biological Chemistry was important for your job offer and, if so, why?

While my educational background in biological chemistry may not have been the primary factor in my job offer, I firmly believe that the skills and experience I gained through my program were instrumental in helping me advance to my current position.

In fact, I credit much of my success to the problem-solving, analytical thinking, and communication skills that I honed throughout my studies. These abilities have proven invaluable in my current role and have enabled me to excel in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

Moreover, I believe that my journey from the sales team to my current position serves as a testament to the value of hard work, dedication, and a willingness to learn and grow. By seizing opportunities and taking on new challenges, I have been able to carve out a fulfilling and rewarding career path for myself.

What do you appreciate most with your current job?

I feel incredibly fortunate to be in my current role, where I have the opportunity to tackle new challenges on a daily basis and work alongside a talented team of industry leaders. Not only am I able to witness firsthand some of the latest advancements in AI technology, but I also have the privilege of collaborating with fantastic colleagues who share my passion for innovation and excellence.

In addition to the thrill of working on cutting-edge projects, I have also had the chance to develop valuable management and leadership skills through my work managing a product as well as speaking at events and sharing insights about our work with others. This has been an immensely rewarding experience that has taught me the importance of clear communication, effective delegation, and inspiring others to strive for greatness.
