The project is supported by NORAD through the NORHED II program for the period 2021–2026.  The project is built on South-South-North partnerships and contributes to share knowledge and capacity building in simulation-based education.

In 2022, the project has been working on strengthening nursing and midwifery lectures and clinical instructors’ competencies on simulation-based education. During many workshops in Malawi and Tanzania 130 facilitators has been educated ( 110 from educational institutions in the north, central and south in Malawi and 30 at KCMUCo.) Follow up the trainings will take place in 2023.  KUHeS has established strong collaboration with Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi and the Ministry of Health Nursing and Midwifery Directorate. Curriculum reviews are done to ensure the implementation of simulation of simulation- based education.  KUHeS has also revised the Simulation Laboratory Guidelines in collaboration with Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi, the guidelines will be further disseminated to all educational institutions in Malawi. The research projects for the four PhD candidates (two PhD candidate from KUHeS and two PhD candidate from KCMUCo) focus on students’ and faculties’ perspectives on simulation-based education in education programs and nursing and midwifery clinical practice.  During the scientific workshop in Malawi the PhD candidates presented their status of their project and preliminary manuscripts.  Eight master students funded by the project (6 from KUHeS and 2 from KCMUCo) started their studies at KUHeS in September 2022.

Renovation of the skill laboratory at KCMUCo is completed and the simulation Centre at KUHeS will be finalized in beginning of 2023.
