The department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science offers a growing range of studies, from bachelor to Ph.d. level.

Kjølv Egelands house

We offer bachelor's and master's degree in computer technology, computer science (Data Science), automation and electronics design, robotics and signal processing. At the doctoral level, the department provides PhD education in information technology.

Master of Science in Data Science

Data Science is a two-year Master's programme that aims to increase the ICT competence of engineers from different fields. Taught in English.

Master of Science in Data Science – part-time

The programme is offered as a 2-year full-time study and as a part-time study over 4 years.

Master of Science in Computer Science

The MSc in Computer Science gives a broad foundation within the field of computer science. This study programme has two specialisations: Reliable and Secure Systems, and Data Science. Master of Science in Computer Science is a international study programme and all courses are given in English.

The programme is offered as a 2-year full-time study and as a part-time study over 4 years.

PhD – Information Technology, Mathematics and Physics

Information Technology, Mathematics and Physics is a subfield within the doctoral programme in Science and Technology at UiS. The subfield has specialisations in cybernetics / signal processing; computer science; physics and mathematics. The doctoral programme is linked to the research within each of these specialisations.

The department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science has research in computer technology, signal processing and cybernetics.

The department has the program area Health Technology, several research groups and other interdisciplinary research collaboration. We have great expertise in artificial intelligence, and has gathered this investment in the Stavanger AI Lab network.
