Learning outcome
Knowledge
After completing the course, the student will be able to
- develop historical knowledge with detail knowledge connected to a specific research question
- evaluate and critique historical arguments, explain how these have been created for different purposes, and how they may be improved. This includes arguments made by the students themselves
- recognise history as an interpreted presentation of lifeworlds in past which historians construct in their own present based on sources
Skills
After completing the course, the student will be able to
- gather, sort, organise, examine, syntethise, quote and critically analyse complex material relevant for the bachelor thesis, including primary sources and literature
- evaluate a selection of historical sources relevant for the bachelor thesis with regards to reliability, position, perspective and relevance
- construct arguments based on scholarly foundations, using sources, theories, and methods in a precise and transparent manner, this too includes presentation of own findings
- demonstrate good academic writing skills, including how to structure a thesis, the presentation of the argument, language, and references
General competences
After completing the course, the student will be able to

- deploy analytical and critical thinking and understanding in fields other than history
