Master Thesis in Prehospital Critical Care (MPHMAS)
The master's thesis is an independent scientific work on a selected topic within Prehospital Critical Care. The aim of the thesis is to further develop the competence the student has acquired previously in the master's programme. The topic must be based on medical and health science, and discussed in relation to relevant literature. The research design must show an adequate scientific method for collecting and analyzing relevant data within the field, and be in accordance with research ethics.
Through the work on the thesis, the student will, on a theoretical and/or empirical basis, further develop the competence acquired through the other parts of the master's programme. Upon completion of the master's programme, the student will be eligible for admission to PhD studies.
A student guideline is available for the writing of the Master's thesis in Pre-hospital Critical Care (30 ECTS credits).

Content
The course consists of thesis seminars focusing on theme, research ethics and research methodology, and a written individual master thesis corresponding to 30 ECTS credits.
A project description for the master's thesis must be prepared, and be approved by the thesis supervisor before further work on the master thesis can commence.
The candidate can choose either qualitative or quantitative methods as a methodological approach to the master thesis. It is also possible to prepare a systematic literature review or a clinical guideline.

The master thesis must be written either as a monograph, a scientific paper or as a clinical guideline.A monograph must be 17,500 words (+/- 10%).A scientific paper must be ready for submission to a relevant peer reviewed scientific journal and be accompanied by a resume of 7000 words (+/- 10%).The development of an evidence-based clinical guideline must follow the guidelines in AGREE II (Appraisal of Guidelines for Research & Evaluation II). The clinical guideline must be ready for peer review, and be accompanied by a resume of 7000 words (+/- 10%). Two students can choose to develop a clinical guideline together, but if so; the resume must be individual.
Coursework requirements
- Project description for Master thesis (must be approved before the end of the 6th term for part time students, and before the end of the 2nd term for full time students)
- 100% attendance on the two master thesis seminars. If at least 50% attendance is achieved the student will be given an individual evaluation.
