Learning outcome
Course objectives and learning outcomes:
Understand the significance of the bioelectrical signals found throughout the body.
Understand the principle behind and be familiar with the medical equipment for:
- measuring pressure and flow in circulatory systems
- spirometry (measurements of the lungs)
- measuring blood gases and gases in breathing air
- defibrillators
- respirators
- infusion pumps
- pulse oximeters
- invasive/non-invasive blood pressure monitors
- diathermy
- pacemakers
- biomedical optics and lasers
- ultrasound, blood flow measurements and therapeutic use
Understand the principles of clinical imaging techniques:
- diagnostic ultrasound imaging
- X-ray planar radiography
- computed tomography (CT)
- positron emission tomography (PET)
- magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
Understand the implications of the use of artificial intelligence in medical equipment.
