Learning outcome
By completing this course, the students shall gain the following knowledge, skills and general competencies:
Knowledge:
- Gain understanding of problems related to different types of marine operations.
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of vessel responses which are being used for marine operations.
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of wind, wave and current loads influencing marine operations.
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of lifting operations.
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of weather restricted and unrestricted operations.
- Gain knowledge on station-keeping systems for floating marine structures.
- Gain knowledge on pipelaying operations.
- Gain knowledge on risk analysis in marine operations.
- Gain knowledge on numerical simulations and analyses.
Skills:
- Can perform dynamic simulations of vessels and other marine structures.
- Can perform design and planning of lifting operations.
- Can use the learnt knowledge applied to different types of marine operations.
- Can perform risk analysis in marine operations.
General competencies:
- Can work on technical solutions to relevant professional and research problems.
- Can work in teams and manage real-life engineering projects.

Coursework requirements
80% of exercises must be approved prior to the student is allowed to enter the exam. Some assignments may be given as group tasks. Visits to companies will not be compulsory but is strongly encouraged.
Compulsory lab exercises with demonstration of computer programme.
