Only 25 young researchers around the world were selected to participate in the OMAE2022 Outreach for Engineers Forum. 6 PhD research fellows from UiS were awarded with a scholarship.
The PhD research fellows Marek Jan Janocha, Omar El Beshbichi, Anja Schnepf, Chern Fong Lee, Jianan Zhang, and Soheil Salahshour Langeroodi from the Department of Mechanical and Structural Engineering and Materials Science at the University of Stavanger were awarded the Outreach Scholarship to present their research work in the OMAE2022 conference. This was the 41st International Conference on Ocean, Offshore & Arctic Engineering. The conference took place in Hamburg, Germany earlier this month.
This is the fourteenth year of the Outreach for Engineers Forum. Highlights of the Forum include presentations of the latest technology trends (covering ocean engineering, offshore engineering, civil engineering, petroleum engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, structural engineering and project management), a review of the most in-demand job opportunities, possible career paths, and team building activities.
According to the UiS outreach winners, this scholarship provided them with a unique opportunity to team up with other early-stage researchers and engineers. They were given chance to discuss their research ideas with the leading experts in marine and offshore engineering.
“OMAE conference, which is held annually, is regarded as one of the largest and most prestigious conferences in marine, offshore and subsea technologies. It is very important for our PhD research fellows to present their work to the engineering community as well as communicate with other top researchers in the world”, Prof. Muk Chen Ong said.
