Our bachelor in dance is a performing study focusing on contemporary dance. It is a three-year education that prepares you for a professional working life as a performing and co-creating dance artist or for further studies in dance.
The dance section is connected with international dance environments through exchanges and extensive visits by guest teachers and choreographers. The section has an international profile, with English as the language of instruction, staff from several countries, and exchange students from Europe and the USA.
This section is organized under the Department for jazz, dance PPU and music production, which is led by Jens Torolf Larsen.

A strong and international environment in dance
The education in dance at Bjergsted in Stavanger focuses on contemporary dance. The environment is characterized as strong, professional and international. Our employees have all specialized expertise in various subject areas within dance art and are active as performers, choreographers, educators and/or researchers. The main goal is to help students improve their professional working lives as performing and co-creating dance artists.
Our study program Bachelor in Dance, is located in specially designed premises in Bjergsted Park, near Stavanger city centre. Students and staff have access to several dance studios, wardrobes with showers, lecture- and meeting rooms, a black box, a concert hall, an ICT room, a library with lots of literature on music and dance, and a cafeteria. There is also newly built student housing on campus.
There are several cultural institutions nearby that have a close collaboration with the faculty. In Bjergsted, there is a cultural school, an MDD specialization at Stavanger Cathedral School, and Stavanger Concert Hall, where the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra is based. Other important partners are RIMI/IMIR and RAS.
