Facts

Students with brass or woodwind as their primary instrument receive solid instrumental training from our excellently skilled wind teachers. Most of our outstanding educators also operate as professional performers in the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra.

Here is a list over the staff at brass/wind classic.

Bjergsted Wind Ensemble participates in several concerts during Bjergsted Brass Week.

From chamber music to symphony orchestra

Every year, our students get to participate in exciting projects with Bjergsted Wind Ensemble, Bjergsted Brass Ensemble, Bjergsted Woodwind Ensemble and Bjergsted Symphony Orchestra. In addition, a lot of chamber music is played at the faculty.

Bjergsted Brass Week

Bjergsted Brass Week is arranged as an annual inspiration week every autumn. International top artists and educators are invited to Bjergsted and lead an intense and inspiring week. During the week, many public concerts are given, and all students get both lots of inspiration and new knowledge during this week. Bjergsted Wind Ensemble plays an active role during this inspiration week - they participate in several concerts and in addition to playing their own pieces also accompany several of our international guest artists.

Bjergsted Brass Ensemble

Bjergsted Brass Esemble also has a high level of activity at the faculty. Every year, our brass students get to take part in their own "Gabrieli and his contemporary" project, where you immerse yourself in our musical roots, and rehearse the earliest original music for brass. In addition, the school has purchased baroque trumpets, natural horns and baroque trombones (sackbuts), and our students get to participate in their own projects on these instruments every year.

Symphony Orchestra in collaboration with the University of Agder

We also arrange two annual symphony orchestra collaborative projects with the University of Agder. Here we put our student groups together into a large orchestra, and do exciting orchestral projects under the leadership of the faculties' conducting professors Rolf Gupta (UiS) and Bjarte Engeset (UiS).

The studies give the students solid fundation when they subsequently start their careers as professional music workers in the performing or pedagogical field.

Excellent educators

As a student here at this faculty, you also get solid instrumental training from our many skilled wind teachers. Most of our outstanding educators work both as professional performers in the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra and as educators with us at the faculty. In addition, we have Professor PK Svensen employed full time. He, together with our other employees, helps to ensure that we here at the faculty have an exciting, active and varied level of activity for our wind students. Through the studies, the students will further develop as performing musicians and gain a wide-ranging and solid experience. This comes in handy when they subsequently start their careers as professional music workers in the performing or pedagogical field.
