Fitjar is a professor in innovation studies and comes from the position of Vice-Rector for Innovation and Society at the University of Stavanger. He will assume the role as head of the Center for Innovation Research (CIR) on August 1st.
"It's great to take over a center that has shown good progress and has such a strong research environment. My aim is to further develop the center as a leading international research community and ensure that we deliver knowledge that is relevant for policy-making and business," says Fitjar.
CIR conducts research on innovation as a driving force for value creation and welfare development in a global economy. It was established in 2007 by the University of Stavanger and Norce (formerly Iris), with funding from the Gjedebo family.
Fitjar takes over from Marte C. W. Solheim, who has led the center since 2019. Solheim will join the top management at UiS as Vice-Rector for Innovation and Society.
