Greenhouse Research Talk Series
Waste often reflects society. It is true now, and it was true in the past. The talk deals with waste treatment in the main cities of Palestine during the British Mandate (1920-1948). By looking into waste history, one can find most of the characteristics of this period: urban growth, economic challenges, national tension, and more. During these years, for the first time, waste became a major hazard in the country, and solutions were looked for overseas. In this talk, Balslev will present his past and future research projects.
Dr. Yaron Jørgen Balslev (he/him) is an environmental historian and historical geographer. His main focus of research deals with urban environments in the British Mandate of Palestine.
