This panel focuses on how ecocritical perspectives may be applied in literature education. Through three case studies, we explore how an emphasis on aquatic elements in texts and surroundings can facilitate students’ exploration of literary texts. Magne Drangeid (he/him) is an associate professor at the University of Stavanger (UiS), Department of Education and Sports Science. His latest book, Jordomseilerne (2022), explores maritime travel literature.
Per Esben Svelstad (he/him) is an associate professor at the Department of Teacher Education, NTNU in Trondheim. Svelstad's research covers various genres. His research interests include sustainability in literature education, ecocriticism, and queer theory.
Marion G. Stavsøien (she/her) is an assistant professor the Department of Teacher Education, NTNU in Trondheim. Her research interests are literary didactics, children's and youth literature, aesthetic learning processes, and literature and sustainability.
