The 14th Conference for the Society of Experimental Finance takes place at the University of Stavanger, School of Business and Law from June 10 - 13, 2024. The Swedish Corona Commission released its report on February 24. Associate professor Anders Åkerman at UiS Business School was one of the researchers who worked on the economic part of the commission. Åkerman worked on analysing the recession and the efficiency of the economic policy that was introduced to mitigate the crisis.

Professor Mattias Hamberg is honoured with the Best Paper Award 2021 by the European Accounting Association for a paper published in the journal Accounting in Europe. The research study examines how companies distribute the purchase price in accounting in connection with acquisitions.

Once again this year, students in the course "Economics of Motivation" had the opportunity to work as consultants in the workplace to test theories in practice. The assignments are based on how companies motivate their employees, and the students are tasked with analyzing and recommending measures that can increase motivation. The best reports were presented in the finals of the Sandnes Sparebank Case Competition at the UiS Business School on November 14th.

The best report was awarded NOK 40,000 in the Sandnes Sparebank Case Competition on November 24.

Doctoral research fellows from all over Scandinavia were gathered in Stavanger when Magne Mogstad taught econometrics at the University of Stavanger Business School last week. Mogstad is one of the world’s foremost experts in the field.
