Fitjar is a professor in innovation studies and comes from the position of Vice-Rector for Innovation and Society at the University of Stavanger. He will assume the role as head of the Center for Innovation Research (CIR) on August 1st.

The University of Stavanger Business School recently submitted two applications to the Research Council of Norway to become Norwegian Centres of Excellence (SFF). The Norwegian Centres of Excellence scheme is the RCN`s most prestigious call. It allows scientific areas to organize themselves in centers to achieve ambitious scientific goals through cooperation and long-term funding.

Associate Professor Ari Tarigan from the Department of economics, safety and planning is part of a group of researchers from Polish and Norwegian universities that was awarded almost 2 million euros for their project “Greencoin”, an interactive system that will promote environmentally friendly behaviour among citizens through a reward system.
By developing a new joint curriculum of PhD courses, candidates will be better equipped in areas of innovation and science.
Spring of 2019, a wind turbine was lifted into place and installed on the Ullandhaug campus. Solar cells have already been installed. The turbine and solar cells are part of a laboratory that will produce energy from solar and wind. Students, researchers and the business community can study the energy mix produced at the lab.
Solheim is an engaged academic and communicator. She is Professor of Innovation and Vice Rector for Innovation and Society at the University of Stavanger. Solheim is a public speaker on diversity and innovation.
