Learning outcome
After completing the course the student should have
- Insight into different aspects and preconditions for strong land use planing and sustainable urban development
- Knowledge about principals, intentions and challenges of land use and transport planning
- Knowledge about spatial analysis and risk assessment
- Knowledge about the planning and buildings law and the planning process
- Understanding of the requirements of public planning
After completing the course the student should be able to
- Produce analytical maps of exisitng situations and conditions
- Interpret given conditions for analysis and planning
- Make regualtion plans with relevant illustrations, models and photomontages according to existing practice
- Formulate planning regulations with awareness of their legal, practical and aesthetic consequences
- Execute design and planning that meets the requirements for universal design
- Use FocusAreal (or other relevant software) to present regulation plans
- Understand the principles of GIS (and be able to use ArcView)
After completing the course the student should have general knowledge about
- oral, written and graphic presentation of planning work
- independent evaluation of planning work

Assessment consists of three project tasks and a written exam. The project work is collectively evaluated and counts for 70% and the written exam 30%.Project work: If a student fails or want to improve the grade, she/he will have to take the projects again the following year.Project work is submitted in groups.
