Content
The course represents the methodological and theoretical tools for the development of the candidate’s master project. Lectures/seminars are thematically organized, in which the first part is concentrated around project development, including writing training and text development. Further on, basic theoretical and analytical models and tools are introduced to aid the conceptual and analytical development of the candidate’s own master project and future artistic work.
For each year a detailed plan is presented, with the following themes:
- Project development related to master project
- Writing workshop
- Artistic and scientific methodology
- Perspectives on artistic research
- Art theory and critical analysis
- Introduction to art-based methodologies, e.g. a/r/tography, performative inquiry, sensory ethnography, diffraction, narrative methodology, affective methodology
- Aesthetics and creativity
- Experimentalism and performativity
- Ethics
Learning outcome
After completing and passing the course, the candidate should have acquired the following:
Knowledge
- detailed and systematic knowledge about historic and arts-based connections to one’s own performance practice
- ability to account for different perspectives on relevant research and field of specialization.
Skills
- a conceptual, methodological, and language-based skill set which enables the candidate to develop specific artistic projects around personal artistic practice
- able to reflect on personal practice, as well as mediate relevant knowledge to the field
General competence
- a general competence which includes central methodologies for conceptual project development, critical analysis, contextualization, and personal reflection

Coursework requirements
Teaching in the course is mandatory, the Master Forums included. In order to take the exam, the student must have at least 80% attendance.
There is basically no differentiation between reasons for the absence.
