The student representative arrangement is an important part of the quality system for education at UiS. It is primarily through the student representative arrangement we acheive systematic student particiaption in the work of ensuring and enhancing the quality of our studies. The student representative arrangement shall accommodate for a high level of involvement on the part of the students, and to achieve clear student participation at all levels within all of the university's educational programmes. The student representative arrangement ensures that any student on any of the university's study programmes has elected representatives whom the student can contact.

In addition to the document describing the arrangement, the student representative arrangement also includes the student representative handbook. These two documents are described below.

The student representative arrangement at UiS

The student representative arrangement is part of the quality system at UiS, and includes all accredited studies in the 1st to 3rd cycle, as well as all courses included in such studies.

The student representative arrangement follows the quality system's principle of three-part division between courses, study programmes and study portfolios. The student representative arrangement scheme has elected representative roles at the same three levels:

  • Course level: Student who is an elected representative for one or more courses
  • Programme level: Student who is an elected representative for a study programme
  • Study portfolio level: Student who is an elected representative for a study portfolio

The student representative arrangement at UiS as a whole can be found in the University Board matter US 44/20 - Tillitsvalgt-ordningen for studenter ved UiS at OpenGov (avaliable in Norwegian only).

Student representative handbook

The student representative handbook is an introduction to the student representative role at the University of Stavanger, and aims to gather the information that the union representatives need in one single place. At the same time, the manual should convey the information in a simple and clear way. The handbook contains information about student democracy at UiS, about the role of the union representative and the three types of elected representatives in the arrangement, and about the boards, councils and committees and how elected representatives participate in these. The handbook also has an student representative calendar, specifying important activities by the month throughout the academic year.

The studentrepresentative handbook in its entirety is available fromthe union representative page on the student organization's website stavangerstudent.no (avaliable in Norwegian only).
