Education
How to document higher education?
All education taken abroad, or in Norway before 2005, must be documented with a final diploma and transcript.
If you have been on an exchange or have had courses from other educational insititutions recognised you must document this by uploading a final diploma and transcript.
Upper Secondary School
How to document the upper secondary education and craft certificate?
If you don’t have your diploma of your upper secondary school in the National Diploma Database (Nasjonal vitnemålsdatabase) you must then upload your original diploma in your application.
You must upload your diploma of your higher upper secondary school in your application. You don’t need to translate this document. Find information about upper secondary education for applicants with a foreign education in samordna opptak website. Name the document "VGS".
You document your passed craft or journeyman's certificate with a diploma or certificate of competence.
Work Practice
How to document the work practice?
If you apply for a programme that requires relevant work practice to be qualified for admission, you must document this with a work/employment certificate.
The following information must be stated on the documentation of work practice:
- Job title (and description of work tasks)
- Work position percentage, any extra hours and leaves.
- Start and end date (If the certificate doesn't have an end date, the certificate must be issued in the same year as you apply to admission and be marked "to date" or equivalent, for the period in question)
- Date of certificate issuance.
- Signature from the issuer (inked signature or e-signature)
Part-time will be converted to the corresponding full-time, so it is important that position percentage or number of hours is stated in the certificate.
It must also be stated in the certificate that it is relevant to the education, or be very clear on your position title and assignments. If your assignments is not clear enough, you may risk not qualifying for admission.
It is the applicant's responsibility to check that all information on the certificate is correct (dates, job percentage, etc.).
Name the document "Work certificate [company]", e.g. Work Certificate-Halliburton.
You can document work practice with your work contract and the paycheck of the last month, only if you at the time of applying still in the same position which states in the contract.
If you document work practice with an old work/employment certificate (not issued in the year of application) of a position you still hold, you must in addition document the paycheck of the last month. The position percentage must be stated clearly in the paycheck, and the date of the paycheck must also be clear.
It is generally recommended to submit a new work/employment certificate if you are still in the same position, rather than use an old certificate.
Passport/ ID card
From 2023 all local applicants should upload a passport or national ID showing their citizenship due to tuition fees being introduced for applicants with a citizenship from outside EU/EEA.
Upload the page with photograph, citizenship, date of birth, and name, of your passport. The passport/ ID card must be valid at the time of applying.
If you have a passport that is expired, but will apply for a new one, you can upload the old passport and submit the new one later on.
If you do not have a passport or national ID card, you can upload an official confirmation of your citizenship, for example from the National Population Register (Folkeregisteret).
