Information about the university
Freiburg is a wonderful university town; in addition to its rich cultural history, the city is ideally situated at the edge of the Black Forest, and France and Switzerland are a short train ride away.
The University had more than 4000 international students from around 126 countries enrolled at the university in 2018. The Albert-Ludwigs Universität has 11 faculties, among which the faculty of Humanities which is located on the main campus.
The faculty of Humanities have a long and illustrious tradition at the University of Freiburg. Many outstanding accomplishments in the fields of philosophy, history, and the philology of various European languages are linked to the names and publications of scholars from Freiburg.
UiS has an Erasmus agreement with the University of Freiburg within Cultural studies and Languages.

English and/or German proficiency recommended at minimum B2 level recommended (read upper-intermediate = 4 in English and/or German from "videregående skole" for Norwegian students).

Students who do not meet the language requirements will be offered online language courses prior the exchange period.
