Kort biografi:
Karl Skretting er fra Njærhein i Hå kommune. Han er gift med Anita og de bor nå i Sandnes. De har to barn.
Karl startet å studere signalbehandling ved Universitet i Stavanger (UiS) i 1996, navnet var da Høgskolen i Stavanger (HiS). Han fikk  siv.ing. (M.Sc.) grad i 1998 og doktorgrad i 2002. Siden 2002 har han vært førsteamanuensis ved UiS. Forskning har vært hovedsakelig innenfor signal representasjon.
