Olga Gjerald, PhD is Professor of Service Management at NHS-Department of leadership and service innovation, University of Stavanger, Norway. She holds a PhD in Management from the University of Stavanger, focusing on basic assumptions of service employees about guests, co-workers and competitors in relation to employee job outcomes. Her main research interests include service organization and employment, service experience design, the societal impacts of services, and leadership. 

Gjerald serves as the Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Change Management: Reframing Leadership and Organizational Practice and is a member of the Academy of Management. Gjerald is also an Associate of the UNESCO Chair on Leadership, Innovation and Anticipation. 

Gjerald is a co-founding member of two research groups at the University of Stavanger: Work Inclusiveness in Tourism and Hospitality (WITH) and eXL (eXploring Leadership). WITH is an interdisciplinary research programme focusing on work inclusiveness in tourism, hospitality, and services, involving researchers from Sweden, Australia, and UK. The eXploring leadership research group is a forum that facilitates diversity and transdisciplinary approach to leadership research and development. Additionally, Gjerald is a co-founder and steering board member of the Global Hospitality Research Alliance (GHRA), an international research consortium committed to promoting decent work in hospitality. Gjerald also holds positions as Secretary and board member of the Nordic Society for Tourism and Hospitality Research (NORTHORS). Gjerald is an Associate Member of European Association of Work and Organizational Psychology (EAWOP) and regularly presents her research at the EAWOP congress.

In addition to her academic career, Gjerald has extensive work experience in the service industry, including roles as guide, travel agency employee, hotel employee, and sales and marketing manager. Gjerald has also experience in North-South Exchange facilitated by NOREC/ FK Norway Fredskorpset (Norwegian Peace Corps) to Madagascar, where she worked on developing a bachelor program in sustainable tourism. 

Gjerald frequently serves as an expert for the Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (NOKUT) during vocational study program accredications in the field of business administration, and for the Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills (HK-Dir) as an expert for the UVD procedure, which assists applicants without verifiable documentation.
