At the University of Stavanger there are students from Ukraine, Russia and Belarus. There are employees with Ukrainian citizenship, Russian citizenship and Belarusian citizenship.
The University of Stavanger does everything to take care of our students and employees who are affected by the war. Both Ukrainian, Russian and Belarussian students and staff should feel safe and taken care of at UiS. Employees and students are followed up by their faculties and departments.

The University of Stavanger offers a 1-year course in Norwegian Language and Culture that aims to give Norwegian language proficiency to refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine

Norwegian Language and Culture programme Level 3 and 4 for refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine, HNO230 and HNO240
Norwegian language and culture level 3 and 4 aims to give Norwegian language proficiency to refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine. The study program consists of the courses HNO 230 and HNO 240. The standard duration of study is 1 year and gives a total of 60 credits.

Dispensation from the admission requirements for Ukrainian refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine - the academic year 2022-2023 and 2023-2024
The University of Stavanger wants to contribute so that Ukrainian students can continue their education in Norway.
In a letter to all higher educational institutions on 5 March 2022, the Norwegian Ministry of Higher Education and Research asked all universities and colleges to accommodate Ukrainian students fleeing the war in Ukraine.
As a response to the request from the Norwegian Ministry of Higher Education and Research and to ensure that refugees from Ukraine be admitted to studies at UiS, the board of the University of Stavanger has authorized the rector to grant dispensation from the rules laid down in regulations concerning admission to studies and courses at the University of Stavanger in certain cases. Exemptions can be granted to refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine who apply for admission to single courses or master's studies for the academic year 2022/2023 and the academic year 2023/2024 when this is justified and necessary.
