Study course in Computer Technology (DAT940)
The PhD program in Information Technology, Mathematics and Physics, field of study Information / Computer Technology / Applied Data Science covers a wide range of research areas. This means that PhD candidates often work interdisciplinary and it therefore will be appropriate to include a master's course as part of the syllabus. To facilitate this, the Study course in Computer Technology functions as a generic doctoral degree course where the learning outcomes, contents and evaluation form will correspond to the learning outcomes, contents and evaluation form in the selected master's degree course, but with additional requirements in the form that the grade must be B or better and that there must be an additional oral examination, as well. If the chosen master's course is at a department other than IDE, courses from the last two years of the relevant master's program can be chosen. If the chosen master's course is at IDE, it should preferably be chosen from courses from the last year of the master's study. If the course is chosen outside UiS, a course at PhD level should preferably be chosen.
