Bjergsted Brass Festival takes place in Bjergsted culture park every autumn in week 38.

Bjergsted Brass Festival is a week of inspiration for brass players of all levels. It is held in Bjergsted Cultural Park every autumn in week 38 in the University of Stavanger's premises in Bjergsted Park. The event is a collaborative project between the Faculty of Performing Arts at the University of Stavanger, Stavanger Culture School, Stavanger Cathedral School's music department, Vågen High School's music department, the Norwegian Brass Association's Rogaland branch and the non-profit organization Bjergsted Trombonelaug.

For the Brass Festival, we bring in top international artists who can inspire, motivate and share their rich knowledge with all the course participants.

Timetables and practical festival informationjon

The theme this year is "Early Brass".

The festival is open to music students at colleges/universities, freelancers, music educators and professional performers. Most of the activities will be on modern brass instruments, therefore participants who do not have access to their own historical brass instruments will get full benefit from the festival. Activities during the festival will be: daily exercises, chamber music, master classes, lectures and a public concert where you will be both listeners and partially active participants in various ensembles.

The weekend festival starts on Wednesday 18. September 2024 at 16.00.

The final concert of the festival will be on Sunday 22. September at 15.00 (finish latest 16.15).

Attending the festival is free and includes all festival activities and public concerts. The University of Stavanger can offer all active participants 3 ECTS for festival participation on the condition that you are a student at a higher music institution. In order to register to receive study credits, some information is needed in the registration form. It will be possible for brass groups from various European colleges - in collaboration with their local college - to organize Erasmus + scholarships or Nord plus scholarships to participate. If this is to be organised, the practical cooperation between the institution and UiS must be initiated quickly in order to arrange all practical details. Then contact the director of the festival, PK Svensen.

We hope as many people as possible want to participate actively in this year's Bjergsted Brass Festival. To register, you go to the registration form and register there. In case of high demand, we may have to limit the number of active participant places, so the "first come, first served" principle applies to be guaranteed a place at the seminar.

All Festival Concerts are included and free of charge for all active Festival Participants.

This year too, thanks to good support from our partners, we have had the opportunity to invite an impressive number of guest teachers and soloists. See details in the guest list below.
