Kort om meg
I am a Marie Curie postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Media and Social Sciences, University of Stavanger, Norway. My project, SaRe-DiGT, investigates the transformative use of digital technologies in the context of gender-based violence and immigration. More specifically, based on a participatory methodological approach, I examine the patterns and practices of digital technology use by immigrant women and individuals who have experienced gender-based violence and explore the potential of digital technologies as a practical resource for information, communication, support, and mobilization.
I was previously a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Psychology, University of Waterloo, Canada. As a part of this research fellowship supported by Mitacs Accelerate, I worked on a community partnership project examining the availability, accessibility, and effectiveness of psychological interventions and support programs in the gender-based violence sector in Canada.
I completed my Ph.D. in 2019 at the Department of Clinical Psychology, Bogazici University, Turkey. My Ph.D. research focused on women’s decision-making and safety-seeking strategies in violent relationships. Utilizing a feminist intersectionality framework, I particularly examined the systemic and structural determinants of women’s decisions and actions.
I am also an external research associate with the Centre for the Study of Social and Legal Responses to Violence (CSSLRV) at the University of Guelph, Canada, and an expert panel member of the Canadian Femicide Observatory for Justice and Accountability (CFOJA).
