My research profile and scientific thinking are based in Caring Science and hermeneutics. My research areas include digitalization/welfare technology in the healthcare sector, with a special focus on the human interaction with technology, as well as research within Caring Science theory formation and clarification of central concepts and theoretical frameworks concerning ethics, caring, suffering and health. My strength in research methods lies in qualitative methods.
At UiS, I am a member of the research area Professional Relations. In 2024-2025, I will serve as a leader of the research group Ethical Solutions in Digital Healthcare (E-DigiCare).
I have been a project manager in various research- and innovation projects, among others:
- ProDigiLead – The project aims to strengthen the social- and healthcare sectors digitalization and the leaders’ digital competence. Funded by Finnish National Agency for Education.
- REDI-SOTE – Resurssiviisaat digitaaliset sosiaali- ja terveyspalvelut. The project identifies and maps the preconditions and objectives of companies' participation in the activities of social and health service ecosystems. Funded by REACT-EU.
- FarmAInteraktion – The project aims to contribute interdisciplinary knowledge on whether social robots can prevent and support patient safety by providing drug information, information and advice in pharmacies. Funded by Solutions for Health/Academy of Finland, Svenska Kulturfonden and Högskolestiftelsen.
- Vasa InnoCare – Digital Innovation Environment in Welfare Technology. In cooperation with Novia University of Applied Science, Vaasa Central Hospital, City of Vaasa, Folkhälsan and Vamia. Funded by Regional Council of Ostrobothnia/EU.
- Panda – Innovations for Pandemia Isolation. In cooperation with Umeå University. Funded by Regional Council of Ostrobothnia/EU.
- Improved Access to Welfare Service by Digital Solutions. The overall aim is to develop an evidence-based service model for digital welfare services that offers flexible solutions creating value for both families, staff, and other stakeholders, in a trustworthy, ethical, safe, accessible, and transparent way. Funded by the City of Vaasa.
Networks: Founding member of the network Vaasa Welfare Technology Ecosystem. Member of following networks: NCCS (Nordic Colleague of Caring Science), ECHAllinace, DigiNet YO (Digitaalisen hyvinvoinnin yliopistoverkosto), Nordic Health and Welfare Technology (HWT) network, NOFI (Nordic Association for Intensive Care Nursing Research.)
